So I’m about two years behind the trend, but nothing makes me giggle like a good Friends GIF. Or that GIF where the penguin gets shoved into the ice. Gets me every time. Anyway, last night’s post got me started and I couldn’t stop. My apologies in advance. And also? This is just for grins, people. Don’t take me seriously here. At all.

Mwah. *blows kiss*

Homeschooling – As Re-enacted by Friends:

When my kids see anyone that isn’t ME during the day:

waving

When it’s time for me to turn my grades and lesson plans into the cover school:

leaping

When “school lunches” are a combination of last night’s leftovers and something I found in the pantry:

custardgood

When I grade their copywork:

yapostrophe

When I realize my kids know more than I do:

butwhy

When someone asks me if my SEVEN kids are socialized enough:

sosilly

When someone thinks being a homeschooler is like living in Little House on the Prairie:

tvwatching

When we do a Thanksgiving unit study:

costumes

When I grade my kids’ math tests:

notcare

What they say:

shrug

When somebody asks me if I’ve heard of “new math”:

brandnewinfo

When I decide to order a new curriculum that’s never been reviewed by Cathy Duffy:

alonewolf

When we study science:

dinosaurs

When someone finds out we homeschool and they assume I wear denim jumpers:

coolperson

When we decide it’s time to teach the kids Latin:

bleh

When I listen to an early reader practice their phonics:

chandler

When my kids experience their first Recess at co-op:

ihavenoidea

When we gather around the table like we do every. single. morning. to do school, and I realize nobody has a pencil:

crying

When my kids don’t understand that a teacher’s manual tells me all the answers:

unagi

That time we tried a chemistry experiment:

wax

When I tell my kids we’re going to do a project:

yes

When they find out I mean posterboard & crayons – not paint, clay, or glitter:

leaving

When someone mentions long division before I’ve finished my coffee:

coffee

When the discussion of high school transcripts comes up:

lalalala

I know y’all can think of more. Leave ’em in the comments. Let’s have a GIFfy giggle or three together!

Ross saying, “I’m fiiiiiine!” Oh, so much potential. Your suspicious of HS MIL, friend, neighbor gets this response to ANYthing. Will the kids learn? They’ll be fiiiiine! Socialized? They’ll be fiiiiiine! House a disaster, dinner not made, kids making a ruckus when someone comes over? We’re fiiiiiine! Then you can offer everyone fajitas like Ross did. 🙂

The pencil thing gets me the most. I just started homeschooling my Sophomore this year thru virtual school. The other three (1st, 2nd, & 4th) attend a wonderful private school. Unfortunately, it only goes thru 8th gr. They ALL come to me asking for help with homework, but NEVER bring the stinking pencil to write down their answers as we work thru it!!!

  37. Thanks for the memories, but don’t worry about the high school transcripts. While the newspapers had articles about how hard it was for kids to get into college, our homeschooled-through-high-school kid was having a hard time deciding which of the 16 acceptances he would take. Leave it to a homeschooler to apply to 17 schools–just to be safe.

I was home-schooled, I’m in college now, and that second-to-last one may end up on my desktop if I can figure out how.
I also home-school my toddler, but so far the worst thing he can give me before coffee is “I had an accident and I can’t find my pants.”

I swear Algebra acted as a laxative in my house. Just mention that it was time to pull out their Saxon Algebra textbooks, and both my sons had to use the restroom. Unfortunately for them, I’d just hand them their texts and notebooks & pencils, and say “Don’t forget this!” LOL

Your child says he needs a bathroom break, so you go in the laundry room to fold towels while you wait for him. You go back to help him with more school work and he is eating an ice cream sandwich. You ask him “what do you think you’re doing?” He replies “We were on a break!”

I’m not sure how many times my dear 2nd daughter, who was dreadfully slow in learning to read, said “Mom, you’re falling asleep again!” And I am so with you with the idea of projects being posterboard and crayons – I don’t even like markers.

After being in my pj’s since before 6am to bake something for my son’s Latin class (because he reminded me at 930pm last night), to then realize he can’t go because he woke up pretty sick, it has become a pj-therapy day with minimal school and Facebook for mom. I was already feeling delirious, so now I am ROFL with tears in my eyes. Thanks for the great laugh! I think that we are now ready for Christmas break!

I don’t think it can be condensed to a GIF, but there’s an episode where Phoebe and Ross discuss evolution. Ross has a huge problem with the fact that Phoebe doesn’t believe in it, but Phoebe doesn’t care what he thinks. It reminds me of some of the heated evolution vs. creationism debates I have seen homeschoolers get into. Of course, that goes both ways.
